Q. "How do I find my Mansfield toilet model number?"
A. Look inside your tank. Always exercise caution when removing the tank lid, as it is fragile and can be easily broken if stepped on or dropped. Inside your tank on the back wall of the tank near the waterline, you should see a model number stamped in the porcelain. Typically, for Mansfield toilets, you will see "Mansfield" followed by "No. ###" - the "No. ###" is your toilet tank model number. There may be more letters following, depending on additional features available on that model of the toilet. For example, toilets with a right hand trip lever will have "RH" at the end of the model number.

Q. "How do I know if I need a 3.5gpf or 1.6gpf fill valve, flush valve, or flapper? Can I just use either one? What if I want to convert my old 3.5gpf into a 1.6gpf?"
A. In addition to the model number stamped into your tank, Mansfield generally notes the water consumption of the toilet. If the gallons per flush are not noted, or are faded beyond readability, try to find a date code stamped elsewhere in the tank. Any toilet manufactured AFTER 1992 will use only 1.6gpf as all toilets made after that date were required by federal law to use 1.6gpf or less. If your toilet is older, there's a chance it uses 3.5gpf, and consequently will need parts that provide 3.5 gallons of water per flush.

Converting your 3.5gpf toilet into a 1.6gpf by simply buying the other parts is NOT recommended. While we mostly talk about the toilet tank when referring to a toilet's water efficiency, it is important to understand that the toilet tank and toilet bowl work together to provide optimal flushing. Toilet bowls on 3.5gpf toilets require that much water to effectively move the waste through the trap of the bowl and into the sewer line. Using less can cause clogs at the source and further down the line - that have to be cleared with more water. If you are concerned about saving water and have an older 3.5gpf toilet, we recommend replacing it with a newer water-efficient toilet as many "conversion methods" simply don't work.

Q. "What is a 2-piece toilet?"
A. A 2-piece toilet is a toilet that consists of a separate bowl and a separate tank joined together by using a gasket and bolts.

Q. "Are Mansfield toilet parts made in the USA?"
A. While all Mansfield vitreous china items (i.e., toilets) are made in the USA, many toilet manufacturers contract out the manufacture of their replacement parts.
