Thermostatic Mixing Valves AM-1 Series
The AM-1 series accurately adjusts, maintains and limits the hot water temperature to a desired setting selected by the user. In domestic water applications it offers scalding protection and bacteria growth control. By installing one of these unique valves, and raising water heater storage temperature, and limiting mixed outlet water temperature to safe temperature, more usable hot water will be available. In heating applications, the valves will provide comfort and will protect the equipment.
Features and benefits:
- Scald protection and temperature control
- Constant water temperature under changing operating conditions
- Reliable performance at minimum flow of 0.5 gpm
- Simultaneous control of hot and cold water
- Flow reduction in seconds if cold water supply is interrupted
- Nickel-plated brass construction
- Designed for easy maintenance and element replacement
- Valve trapping not required
- Union and C models include check valves (hot/cold ports)
- Maximum pressure = 150 psi
- Maximum temperature = 212° F.
- ASSE 1017 approved
Typical applications: Heat pump systems, domestic water, nursing homes, public facilities, automatic faucets, radiant floor heating, space heating, combo systems, solar hot water, greenhouses, industrial applications and photo processing

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. "What does the Cv reference in the tables mean?"
A. The Cv is the flow coefficient or flow capacity rating for the valves. It is the gallons per minute that will flow through the valve at 60°F with a pressure drop of 1 pound per square inch across the valve.
Q. "I have low water pressure, can I use these products?"
A. ALL of the products on this page will reduce your pressure even more. These mixing valves will reduce the pressure because of friction loss as the water flows through them. If your water system is marginal and you cannot have less water pressure, then these products are not for you.
Q. "When installing mixing valves are there any other helpful hints?"
A. We believe that whenever you install a mixing valve after the water heater that you should also install a check valve on the cold side, an in-line screen (such as a wye-strainer) and an expansion tank.
