  • Polyvinyl chlroride (PVC) 1/2" Male Adapter - MIPS x Slip.
  • S is the abbreviaton for slip which means pipe fits inside the slip side of the adapter fitting.
  • MIPS is the abbreviation which means male iron pipe size. MIPS will thread into female iron pipe threads.
  • Male adapters are used to transition from PVC to a threaded female fitting or valve.
  • A male adapter can be used to thread into a female threaded plastic fitting, but is more normally used to attach to a threaded valve or metal pipe fitting like copper, galvanized, stainless steel, or brass. The other slip side of the fitting glues over 1/2" PVC schedule 40 pipe.
  • When properly glued, 1/2" Schedule 40 male adapters are suitable for potable water systems and will easily handle working pressures of 140 psi @ 73°F.
  • Please Note: Water pressures above 80 psi can damage residential water distribution systems.
  • PVC has exellent chemical and corrosion resistance.
  • PVC is approved for underground use, but not indoor distribution.
  • PVC is a viable alternative to copper, galvanized, or polyethylene, and is often the least expensive option.
  • PVC fittings should never be used for compressed air or gas systems.
