Frequently Asked Questions
Q. "Do you offer any other Price Pfister parts?"
A. Yes. We offer a large selection of Price Pfister parts on our page.
Q. "I would like to convert my faucet to quarter turn cartridges. Can I do that?"
A. If your faucet has the older Hydroseal type cartridge 910-691 (hot) and 910-681 (cold) you can replace them with (2) of 910-900 for hot and cold (the rotation on this cartridge is reversible).
Q. "I have a parts diagram that says my pre 1997 08 Series tub faucet should use the 974-491 cartridge and the 971-150 stem bonnet assembly but these part numbers are not listed on your site. Will the 974-042 cartridge work in my tub faucet?"
A. Per the manufacturer, the 974-042 combined cartridge and stem bonnet assembly (one-piece) is for 08 Series tub and/or shower faucets manufactured AFTER 2004. The original 974-491 cartridge was replaced by the 974-291 balancing cartridge assembly and the original 971-150 stem bonnet assembly was replaced by the 971-250 complete valve stem assembly. The 974-291 balancing cartridge and the 971-250 stem bonnet assembly are the replacement parts to be used in all of their tub and/or shower faucets manufactured up until 2004.
Q. "How do I know what cartridge to use if I don't know which year my faucet was manufactured?"
A. The only sure way to know is to shut off your water and remove your stem assembly and cartridge from the shower faucet and then compare your cartridge with the pictures shown by clicking on the underlined part numbers. You will then need to order the parts that best match the parts you have.
Q. "How does the #910-900 stem cartridge for Price Pfister work for both the hot and the cold side? What if your faucet has lever handles which need to turn opposite of each other?"
A. The #910-900 stem cartridge can be set to turn counterclockwise for the "hot" handle of your faucet or to turn clockwise for the "cold" handle of your faucet with a simple adjustment. When first removed from the package, the cartridge should be set to turn counterclockwise for hot. Please double check that the cartridge is indeed set this way before proceeding.
- STEP 1: Make sure the clear plastic cap is on the diverter end of the cartridge to hold the o-ring and diverter components inside the cartridge
- STEP 2: Remove the small, "square" metal C-ring from the base of the stem
- STEP 3: Pull off the ratchet ring and flip it over, placing it back on the stem
- STEP 4: Replace the C-ring
The stem will now be reversed and set to turn clockwise so it can be used on the cold side.
