This compact water level control valve, with its new and innovative design, will solve your fresh water control problems once and for all. This small, virtually indestructible valve is well adapted to a wide variety of applications, from personal home use to large-scale industrial use. This valve is ideal for any application where it is necessary to control the level of fresh water. The unique compact design has caught the attention of people in every type of industry where water control is necessary. The patented design of the Hudson Valve uses water pressure as the primary force to close the valve, as opposed to a lever arm and float ball. The compact, self-contained design greatly enhances the valve's reliability. The valve body is made of durable glass-filled nylon. Internal parts are of ABS plastic, silicone, and stainless steel. When properly installed, the valve will meet anti-siphon requirements.
This float valve will turn the water off at 1-1/2" to 2" above the bottom of the valve depending on the pressure of the water in the trough, tank, pond, etc. The pressure of the water flowing upward forces the float to rise and shut off the water flow.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q. "How does the Hudson Livestock Watering Valve work?"
A. The valve operates using a float and a control diaphragm chamber. When hooked up to a water source the valve will allow water to flow through it until the water reaches the bottom of the valve. As the water level rises it causes the float inside of the valve to rise allowing the diaphragm chamber to fill and close the valve.
Q. "What is the minimum pressure needed to operate this valve as well as the maximum pressure?"
A. Both the 1/2" and 1" valves have a minimum operating pressure of 8 psi, the 1/2" valve has a maximum operating pressure of 65 psi and the 1" valve is 100 psi maximum. These pressure ranges are the same for the standard temperature and the high temperature valves.
Q. "You state 'resistant to freezing' what does that mean? Can this float valve withstand 20 degree temperatures?"
A. You would need to install the "continuous flow disc" during the winter months when freezing may occur. When installed it will allow a constant trickle of water to flow, this constant flow of water helps to prevent pipes from freezing. This will cause your reservoir to overflow, you will need to address this and provide a way to drain the excess water. However this method will not be very effective during very low temperatures or long periods of below freezing temperatures. You should not use this valve as your only method of protection against frozen pipes.
Q. "What is the minimum depth this valve requires to operate? How shallow can the water bowl be?"
A. This valve stops the flow of water between 1-1/2" and 2" from the bottom of the valve, depending on your water pressure. It could conceivably work in a 3" deep bowl, we suggest a 4" deep bowl as a minimum.
Q. "My child just started 4-H, would this be a good valve to use for their lamb raising project?"
A. Yes, the compact size and lack of exposed moving parts makes this valve ideal for these types of projects. This valve is designed to be animal friendly and will work in a small watering pail that is secured from being tipped over.
Q. "Will my valve work in liquids other than water?"
A. The Hudson Valve is designed to be used in fresh water only. Please note these valves will not be covered under warranty if any liquid other than fresh water is used as it's source. All warranties are covered by the manufacturer.
