Installing Wooden Toilet Seats

Step 1:
Gather all the parts from the box. Your gorgeous new wood toilet seat will typically include pairs of threaded hinges, threaded bolt-shanks, plastic washers and plastic nuts.

Step 2:
Begin by threading the bolt-shanks into the threaded portion of the hinges. Then slide the plastic washers over the bolts, onto the threaded portion of the hinges.

Step 3:
Place the bolt-shanks through the bolt holes in the toilet. From the underside of the toilet, begin to hand-tighten the plastic nuts onto the bolt-shank. Then use an adjustable wrench to tighten the nut slightly. Be careful not to over tighten as you can damage your toilet, your new toilet seat or both!  Typically, once you have hand tightened the nut you'll only need to tighten the nut a quarter of a turn more with a wrench.
