General Wire Hot Spot Digital Locator

The Gen-Eye Hot Spot Digital Locator lets you know exactly where the problems are. 100 sensitivity levels let you hone in on the transmitter's signal. The LCD display panel produces a clear digital readout, as well as a graphic display and an audible tone. It's faster and more precise than analog locators.

The Gen-Eye Locator lets you locate almost anything underground with its built-in four-way signal finder. You can find the Gen-Eye camera even when it's deep inside cast iron pipe. When you turn on the Digital Locator, it looks for the 512 hz or 874 hz signal transmitted from the Gen-Eye camera.

Switch the locator to 60 hz, and you can locate underground power lines before you start digging.

The Gen-Eye Transmitter is used to energize metal pipes, fiber optic cables or even CATV cables with a powerful 65 Khz signal. The signal then radiates through the ground allowing the Digital Locator to pick up the signal above ground and tell you exactly where the pipe is and how deep it is buried, down to the inch!

All you need to do is attach one of the transmitter leads to the pipe and the other lead to the ground stake to complete the circuit. Four sending frequencies to choose from, 1 kHz, 8 kHz, 33 kHz, or 65 kHz (65kHz at 1 watt maximum). Easy to read display has icons to indicate power settings and let you know if you have a quality connection.

The Gen-Eye Hot Spot 5 watt transmitter uses 10 "D" type batteries for approximately 100 plus hours of operation. Built-in timer can be set for automatic shut down to save power.

If you'd prefer, the Gen-Eye Sonde 10 can be attached to your drain cleaning cable using the included spring carrrier. The carrier protects the sonde as it travels down the line and transmits a signal at depths up to 10 ft. in cast iron pipe or 15 ft. in clay or plastic pipe. More compact than the transmitters, the Sonde 10 is powered by one AAA battery.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. "Do the General Wire Gen-Eye POD units record video?"
A. These units do not record video but do include a video out port so that you can capture the video with a device of your choice. If you require a unit that includes a video capture device we suggest looking at the General Wire Gen-Eye SD units.

Q. "What size of lines will this system work with?"
A. The Gen-Eye POD units work with a line capacity of 3" to 10" while the Gen-Eye Mini-POD units will work with a line capacity of 2" to 3".

Q. "What is a 'Sonde'?"
A. A sonde is a small radio transmitter. Gen-Eye Sondes are a great tool for pipe location in cast iron, clay, or plastic lines. Easier than locating an energized line, you simply locate the pinpoint frequency of the Sonde. Attach the sonde to your drain cleaning cable using the included spring carrier. Then find the signal with the General Wire Digital Locator (not included with all units).

Q. "Why do some units include the 'Sonde' but not the digital locator?"
A. The manufacturer does not offer the digital locator with all units as some customers may already have the digital locator. A digital locator is required to use the sonde.

Q. "What kind of camera lighting do these systems have?"
A. The Self-Leveling color camera and standard color camera both include 16 white LED's while the color mini-camera has 8 white LED's.

Q. "What is special about the self leveling camera?"
A. The self leveling camera keeps the water at the bottom of the picture as the camera glides through the line, making it easier for the operator and his/her customer to follow the action. The camera head is just 1.4" in diameter and has sixteen ultra-bright LED's, so there's plenty of flexibility and enough light to handle lines up to 10" in diameter.
