Q. "What does 'ADA Compliant' mean?"
A. Complies with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990. The Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is a comprehensive civil rights act for people with disabilities. On July 26, 1990, the President signed the ADA into law as wide-ranging legislation intended to make American society more accessible to people with disabilities and to prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability. The ADA was built primarily due to the desire of individuals with disabilities to work toward their goal of full participation in American society, and effects the ADA may have on businesses include restructuring or altering the layout of a building, modifying equipment, and removing barriers.
Q. "What's the difference between a child drinking fountain and bottle filling station and a standard drinking fountain and bottle filling station?"
A. A child drinking fountain and bottle filling station is the same as an adult fountain - it is just mounted at a slightly lower height making it more accessible to children. As always, please check with your local codes to determine what heights are appropriate for your installation.
Q. "What models of fountains come with the combination kits?"
A. All of the EZH2O® station + water cooler kits include the Elkay EZ Style line of fountains.
Q. "Are both the bottle filler and fountain no-touch?"
A. No, only the bottle filler includes no touch activation. The fountains feature EZ Touch controls on the sides and front of the unit.
Q. "Are both the bottle filler and water cooler filtered?"
A. Yes, both the fountain and the bottle filler provide filtered water.
Q. "Are both the bottle filler and water cooler chilled on the refrigerated units?"
A. Yes, both the fountain and the bottle filler provide chilled water on the refrigerated units.
Q. "How much chilled water per hour do the refrigerated fountains and coolers provide?"
A. The refrigerated EZH2O® ™ bottle fillers and combination kits include a chiller that provides 8 gallons per hour of 50 degree Fahrenheit water assuming a room temperature of 90 degrees Fahrenheit. If you think you may need more than 8 gallons per hour of chilled water we suggest looking at model LZWSMDK which does not come with a chiller but can have a separate chiller installed that provides more than the 8 gallons per hour that the standard units produce.
Q. "Do the bi-level units include 2 bottle filling stations?"
A. Bi-level units only include one bottle filling station.
Q. "What is the difference between the LZWSM8K and the LZWSM8PK?"
A. The LZWSM8K is manufactured to match the dimensions of your current Elkay #EDFP214, EDFP217, ERFP, ERO, LNFE, LNTE, ERPBM, ENOB or LRPBM fountain, while the LZWSM8PK is designed to match the #EDFPB fountain.
Q. "How does the 'Green Ticker' calculate how many bottles have been saved?"
A. On the refrigerated units the "Green Ticker" will activate the counter after every 12 ounces of water dispensed through the bottle filler and on non-refrigerated units the counter is activated after every 16 ounces.
Q. "Are there any differences between the refrigerated units and non-refrigerated units besides the chiller?"
A. No - they are virtually identical besides the chilled water that the refrigerated units provide. The only difference is how the "Green Ticker" counts how many bottles have been saved. On the refrigerated units the "Green Ticker" will activate the counter after every 12 ounces of water dispensed through the bottle filler and non-refrigerated units activate the counter after every 16 ounces.
Q. "What features does the Flexi-Guard® StreamSaver™ bubbler offer?"
A. The Flexi-Guard® StreamSaver™ bubbler is an anti-microbial safety bubbler that is keyed in to position to prevent rotation.
Q. "What makes the vandal resistant bubblers 'vandal resistant'?"
A. The Vandal resistant bubbler features drinking water safe solid brass construction and is keyed in place to prevent rotation.
Q. "How often will the water filters need to be changed?"
A. The WaterSentry® Plus filter has a 3000 gallon capacity. When it's time to change the filter the display on the unit will indicate that the filter needs to be changed. Generally, most filters need to be changed between every 6 months and a year but can vary due to water conditions and use.
Q. "How hard is it to change the filter?"
A. Changing the filter is very easy and only requires 6 simple steps:
- Remove the lower panel of the water cooler by removing the four screws
- Turn the water valve off
- Open the bubbler to relieve the pressure in the system
- Remove the filter from the system by rotating the filter counterclockwise
- Install the new filter by firmly inserting the filter and rotating it clockwise
- Turn on the water supply and hold the bubbler open on the cooler until approximately
one gallon is dispensed to purge air and carbon particles from the system
Q. "How tall of a bottle will the bottle filler accommodate?"
A. The bottle filler will accommodate an 11" bottle. However, if you tilt the bottle, bottles taller than 11" may also be accommodated.
Q. "What is the 'real drain system' and how does it eliminate standing water?"
A. The "real drain system" is a specially designed mat on which the bottle filler rests. It channels the excess water from the bottle filler into the cooler's basin.
Q. "What are the electrical requirements for the units?"
A. The water cooler and EZH2O® ™ station require a 15-amp minimum dual receptacle rated at 115 volt, 60HZ single phase.
Q. "What tools will I need for the installation of my bottle filler retro-fit kit?"
A. The manufacturer suggests but does not provide the following list of tools for installation: safety glasses, gloves, 1/2" drill bit, electric drill, 3/4" wrench or crescent wrench, 5/16" nut driver, utility knife, tape measure, pencil, center punch, 1/2" socket and ratchet wrench and 5/32" allen wrench.
Q. "How hard is it to install the retrofit kit?"
A. We recommend seeking the advice/assistance of a licensed plumbing professional for the installation of these units due to the risk of injury and/or water damage.
Q. "Can the retro-fit kit be used on a cooler besides the EZ style coolers?"
A.The retro-fit unit is designed specifically for use only with Elkay EZ style drinking fountains.
Q. "What comes with the special retro-fit tools?"
A. The special retro-fit tools include various fittings and accessories required for installing the unit. The manufacturer suggests but does not provide the following list of tools for installation: safety glasses, gloves, 1/2" drill bit, electric drill, 3/4" wrench or crescent wrench, 5/16" nut driver, utility knife, tape measure, pencil, center punch, 1/2" socket and ratchet wrench and 5/32" allen wrench.
Q. "Are there any special considerations that should be taken in to account when choosing to order the bottle filler retro-fit kit?"
A. Installation of the bottle filler retro-fit kit on a single fountain will require the fountain to be pressurized while bi-level fountains are already pressurized.
Q. "What is 'Laminar flow'?"
A. Laminar flow is a smooth stream of water with little turbulence and is not prone to spattering or splashing.
