Frequently Asked Questions
Q. "Do I need to seal my new granite sink?"
A. To keep your sink looking as beautiful as the day it was installed, a sealer designed for granite is recommended. When a sealer is applied to your granite sink, it soaks into the stone and fills in any open areas, helping prevent staining materials from penetrating the stone. Sealers are commonly available at your local hardware or home store.
Q. "How do I clean my granite sink?"
A. To clean your solid granite sink, use a soft soapy cloth, sponge or nylon brush - nothing abrasive! Be sure to rinse the sink thoroughly after cleaning and dry it well. Cleaning on a regular basis will help prevent hard water deposits. If, despite sealing and regular cleaning, your sink develops stains, you can try a non-abrasive cleaner such as dishwasher soap or a professional stone cleaner solution.
Q. "Are all of these granite sinks reversible?"
A. The smooth polished sinks (no carved fronts, no chiseling) are reversible. The sinks with offset bowls may be installed with the smaller bowl to the left or right. The single bowl and equal double bowl sinks in the same section may be reversed, but they're symmetrical so it won't change the layout. The carved front sinks and chiseled front sinks are not designed to be installed in reverse.
Q. "Can I reuse my old stainless steel sink's under mounting clips to undermount these granite farmer sinks?"
A. No. Stone sinks are considerably heavier and need to be supported accordingly. Since they're made from natural stone, granite sinks can weigh well over 200 lbs and the cabinet you plan to install them in must be prepared for that weight. The manufacturer recommends that the cabinet and supporting framework should be reinforced to hold up to 300 lbs securely once the sink is installed.
